How to install BuddyPress – Social Login?
Step 1: Purchase & download BuddyPress – Social Login from the OpenTute+ shop by clicking on the link below
Step 2: Extract the downloaded buddypress-social-login.zip file to the WordPress plugins folder – yourhostname/wordpress/wp-content/plugins
Go to your WordPress Dashboard -> Plugins -> Add New. Click on Upload Plugin. Browse to the download file location, select the buddypress-social-login.zip & install the plugin.
Step 3: Activate the plugin on your WordPress site by navigating to WordPress Dashboard -> Plugins -> Click on Activate under BuddyPress – Social Login.
On successfully activating the extension a BPSL Settings sub-menu will be added in your WordPress Dashboard -> Settings menu.
Note : Remember BuddyPress – Social Login is an extension for integrating social networks’ login on your BuddyPress powered WordPress site. You need to have BuddyPress plugin installed & activated on your WordPress site for BuddyPress – Social Login to work.
How to use BuddyPress – Social Login?
ENABLING SOCIAL LOGIN ON YOUR BUDDYPRESS SITE:
Step 1: Navigate to WordPress Dashboard -> Settings -> BPSL Settings -> General tab.
Step 2: Enable / disable the options to show/hide social connect on login/registration forms by default on your site.
Step 3: Click the Save Changes button when you are done with the settings.
SETTING UP PROVIDERS FOR THE SOCIAL CONNECT BUTTONS:
Navigate to WordPress Dashboard -> Settings -> BPSL Settings -> Providers tab.
Enable the social networks you wish to integrate within your register/login pages. Create apps for each social network, copy & paste the respective App ID(s) along with App Secret(s) in the respective boxes. You can change the look & feel of the social connect buttons here (optional). Click on the Save Changes button once you are done with specifying the details.
AVAILABLE SHORTCODES FOR BUDDYPRESS – SOCIAL LOGIN:
You can use any of the following shortcodes to display the social connect buttons on your WordPress posts / pages / widgets.
Remember: If you have enabled the social connect on login/registration forms by default on your site the social connect buttons will automatically show up on your login & registration pages. You do not have to specify any shortcode for it.
1. Basic shortcode for showing enabled social network buttons
2. Showing specific social network buttons
Shortcode options: provider – Name of the social network
Example: [bpsl provider=”google,facebook,twitter,linkedin”]
Note: If a value for the provider option is not set it will display all the social connect buttons which have been enabled. Also, if the provider option is set but a social network is not enabled then the respective button(s) will not be displayed on the frontend.
3. Specifying a custom CSS class for your social connect buttons
[bpsl class=”your-class-for-button-container” provider=”social_network_name”]
Shortcode options: class – Add custom CSS class defined by the admin for the social connect buttons
Example: [bpsl class=“any_class_name” provider=”facebook,twitter”]
Note: If a value for the class option is not set it will use auto arrange for button columns, otherwise it will show buttons into one column.

CONNECTING / DISCONNECTING SOCIAL NETWORKS FROM A USER’S PROFILE:
A user can choose to connect / disconnect their social networks right from the profile page on the frontend.
Click on the respective social connect button to connect it to your (user’s) BuddyPress profile. Already connected social networks will be displayed in the Social Connects tab on the user’s profile. Click on the Disconnect button to disconnect the social network account from your profile.
